Week 2 Core and Advanced: 1. Write 1st class essay, a creative narrative about Spiderman in New York using the poster on the class wall for inspiration. The rough draft is written in class and the typed version is due next class for the portfolio. |

| Week 3: Writing Business Letters This is our first project and it is due September 19-20. Project grades are worth 35% so it is an important grade. The grade has 3 parts to it: 1. The business park is drawn. Each student creates 4-6 businesses which are laid out on a series of city streets. Each business is named and given an address. 2. A data sheet is completed in class detailing the merchandise of each business and suggesting a problem with the businesses. Then several letters are typed and sent to the store owners. One letter confronts a problem and one letter offers a commendation or praise for something positive in the store. The first draft of these letters is written in class and the typed version is done for homework. 3. The presentation in class. Each student will make a 5 minute presentation in class. They will present their business park, read their letters, and open the floor for questions from the class. ---------- Each part is worth 33%. Total grade is 100%. Good luck. It will be fun to step into this student business world. |
